This week Republicans published our tax reform blueprint. The plan aims to cut taxes for the middle class, drastically simplify the tax code, kickstart economic growth, and eliminate loopholes, special deals, and special-interest carve-outs. House members, myself included, have been working out many of these reforms for years—the tax code is way too complex, unfair, and punitive for working people and small businesses, and it's been one of my major priorities in Congress to transform the tax code into a tool for driving economic growth instead of blocking it.
